Globalport slips past Magnolia in close preseason contest
Globalport mustered a last gasp win over Magnolia in an PBA preseason game, 83-80, Thursday at Claret School in Quezon City.
The Batang Pier scored five unanswered points with less than two minutes remaining in the game with Kelly Nabong first hitting a three-pointer at the 1:44 mark to give Globalport an 80-77 buffer.
Article continues after this advertisementStanley Pringle then capitalized on a Magnolia turnover and score a mid-range jumper with 1:02 left in the fourth that increased Globalport’s lead to five, 82-77.
Magnolia’s Aldrech Ramos cut the deficit to two, 82-80, after a three-pointer with 13 seconds left, but Stanley Pringle’s free-throw line split with 5.4 seconds left ensured the victory for the Batang Pier.
Pringle finished with 18 points, 10 assists, five rebounds, and two steals for Globalport while Ryan Araña and Kelly Nabong added 16 and 14 points, respectively.
