BANGKOK — Filipinos suffered a shutout at ONE: Warriors of the World Saturday at Impact Arena here, with all four bets yielding to their respective foes.
April Osenio (2-3) failed to mark her return with a win, falling to Xiong Jing Nan (10-1) after suffering a barrage of strikes at the 3:44 mark of the opening round, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
The returning 23-year-old fighter out of Team Lakay was able to escape the Chinese’s guillotine attempt, but Xiong eventually gained the upper hand and unleashed a flurry of punches to nab the victory.
Rome Trinidad (0-1) also held her own against fan favorite Rika Ishige (3-1), but ultimately faltered in her debut as she tapped out to a rear-naked choke at the 4:05 mark of the second round.
The model-turned-Sikaran expert showed glimpse of potential in the duel, engaging in a slugfest in the first round. However, Ishige showcased her ground game in the second round and caught Trinidad late to bounce back from her shock loss to Jomary Torres.
Jimmy Yabo (5-6) also came up short in snapping his slump as he took a killer knee to the body from Muay Thai specialist Sagetdao Petpayathai (3-0), who knocked him out at the 2:44 mark of the first round.
The Cebuano featherweight has now absorbed his fourth straight defeat and lost six of his last seven fights overall.
In the preliminary fights, Rabin Catalan also incurred the same fate as he lost in the opening round to Kritsada Kongsrichai of Thailand.
