POC, GK gym rises in Leyte

The Philippine Olympic Committee has underscored the importance of sports in the countryside by putting up facilities in Gawad Kalinga’s far-flung communities.

Led by president Jose Cojuangco Jr., POC opened a new multipurpose gym for residents of Montano GK Community in Brgy. Binotong in Alangalang, Leyte.


Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, the International Olympic Committee representative to the Philippines, also graced the turnover ceremony of the POC Activity Center where they were greeted by school children, their parents and community officials.

“If we train these kids in proper venues, we can discover potential talents even in areas far from the city,” said Cojuangco.


The multipurpose gym in Alangalang was the POC’s third in the province.
