Petron was at its best at the most opportune time and not even F2 Logistics, the No. 1 team in the league, could do anything about it.

The Blaze Spikers were solid on defense and potent on offense and Lindsay Stalzer had everything to do with it en route to a masterful 25-14, 25-21, 25-16 win in Game 1 of the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix Finals Saturday night.

Stalzer fired 20 points with three blocks to lead the way for Petron, which goes for its first Grand Prix crown since 2014 on Thursday still at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

“I’m just so proud of my team for all the preparation we have done for this match and our execution,” Stalzer told reporters. “I couldn’t be happier with the result tonight it was a team effort.”

“I’m so happy with the way we played. Our game plan was followed,” said Petron head coach Shaq delos Santos.

Hillary Hurley also had 20 points, including back-to-back hits that stretched the Blaze Spikers’ advantage to seven, 19-12. A running attack by Remy Palma put Petron in match point and Mika Reyes ended the game.

Import Maria Perez was the lone F2 player in double digits with 15 points.
