MANILA, Philippines – Phil Younghusband pulled one back for the home side with a left-footed strike in the 40th minute but Los Angeles Galaxy still leads 2-1 at halftime at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Saturday.
Younghusband, who missed a lot of shot on goals in the first half, connected on a goal just a minute after striker Mike Magee doubled the Galaxy’s score.
Magee latched onto a pass by Landon Donovan in the 39th minute, following up David Beckham’s curling strike in the 20th minute.
Beckham found the right top corner of the goal that went over the leaping Azkals’ keeper Eduard Sacapano.
The Philippines have been doing a great job containing the Galaxy, especially goalie Eduard Sacapano, who hasn’t been a regular starter for the Azkals, with his timely saves.
