National University seniors J-Jay Alejandro and Matt Salem will reinforce Go for Gold-St. Benilde in the upcoming 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.

Head coach TY Tang confirmed the news as the duo is expected to provide much-needed scoring boost for the young Blazers crew.

Alejandro emerged as an MVP contender in his final year with the Bulldogs, averaging 17.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 33 minutes on his way to a Mythical Five selection this past UAAP Season 80.

Salem, meanwhile, churned out 8.3 markers on 32 percent clip from threes, that went with 7.2 boards, 1.3 dimes, and 1.2 steals in 22 minutes of play.

The duo’s entry in the Go for Gold-St. Benilde is definitely a shot in the arm as they will be counted on to help the Blazers’ core in their preparation for NCAA Season 94 next year.

“They have a good coaching staff. They have a good culture with their work ethic,” explained Salem of the move. “Also, I thought they can help me improve more as a player to be able to play the three and four position. And lastly, Jay and I always talked after the season to continue playing on the same team.”

Aside from Alejandro and Salem, Go for Gold-St. Benilde will also bank on Unique Naboa, Kendrix Belgica, Edward Dixon, and Clement Leutcheu for this campaign in the developmental league.
