San Beda pips Chiang Kai Shek for crown
JM Lagumen drilled in the game-winning triple with five-tenths of a second left to help San Beda beat Chiang Kai Shek College, 66-65, on Thursday and rule the 6th PSSBC Dickies Underwear Cup at SGS Stadium in Araneta Avenue, Quezon City.
After trailing by as many as 11 points in the third canto, the Red Cubs rallied to go toe-to-toe with the Blue Dragons before Lagumen sealed the comeback win.
“You can see in my players how they really wanted to win this one. We were down by double figures in the third but they just kept on coming back,” said San Beda coach JB Sison.
The Red Cubs took home P80,000 in cash plus a trophy and became the first team to win two titles. They also ruled the 2014 tournament.
