Foton has broken up with Serbian coach Moro Branislav.

Foton president Rommel Sytin told the Inquirer they will tap a new coach starting the next season after breaking ties with Branislav, who spent a year and a half with the Tornadoes.

Branislav led Foton to a Philippine Superliga championship last year but failed to win a title this season despite a solid lineup.

“We are looking at getting a local coach this time,” said Sytin.

Topping the list of possible replacements is former University of Santo Tomas player Rommel Abella, who has had mentoring stints in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

Abella steered Pocari Sweat to three titles in the PVL until he was replaced and became team director.

Branislav mentored the PSL-team to the Asian Women’s Club Championships in 2016 before being tapped by the Tornadoes for the Grand Prix of that same year.

He managed to give the Tornadoes their second Grand Prix title with imports Lindsay Stalzer and Ariel Usher joining hands with  Jaja Santiago. But the Tornadoes dropped their three-peat bid this season, losing to Petron in the semifinals.
