It seems UFC President Dana White is hell bent on further spreading the influence of his promotion’s parent company Zuffa.
And White is talking to one unlikely ally—Floyd Mayweather Jr.
As per BoxingScene.com, White has talked to Mayweather’s team in the hopes of Zuffa’s potential venture into the sport of boxing.
“I’m interested in getting into boxing in 2018,” said White in the report.
White and Mayweather once somewhat worked together, when the undefeated boxing legend faced off against UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor inside the squared circle
Mayweather ended his career on an immaculate 50-0 card after knocking out McGregor in 10 rounds.
White added in the report that the talks do not involve Mayweather getting inside the Octagon but is purely on the potential of having Zuffa promoting boxing in the near future.
“Let’s be clear here, Floyd gets killed in MMA [mixed martial arts], and I think even Floyd knows that,” said White. “I’ve been very honest about getting into boxing. I’m meeting with everybody from the boxing world and I’m meeting with Team Mayweather too.”
