6TH LPGT season on Jan. 3

Ayala Greenfield, a windswept layout South of Manila, will be the site of the kickoff leg of the sixth season of the Ladies Philippines Golf Tour starting Wednesday where the country’s finest will all be seeing action.

The well-manicured, ravine-filled layout offers a different challenge especially at this time of year where club selection will be put to the test because of the presence of strong winds in the exclusive complex carved out of a mountain.

Symetra Tour campaigners Cyna Rodriguez, Dottie Ardina and Princess Superal together with rising star Pauline del Rosario will carry the local charge as the Thais who dominated the last two legs of the 2017 season have returned.

Del Rosario, the 19-year-old who skipped college to turn pro, finished 10th in the South Forbes leg two weeks ago but has since recovered from poor health and is raring to notch another international win.

Ardina and Rodriguez, the toasts of this circuit in its early years, have been campaigning in the United States in order to earn full LPGA cards.
