Kevin Alas and the NLEX Road Warriors had just dropped their first game in the PBA Philippine Cup, but for the young guard losing against Phoenix hits quite closer to home—literally.

Serving as head coach of the Fuel Masters is Kevin’s father Louie and the younger Alas knows he won’t hear the end of it.

“I’m happy for him with what he’s doing with Phoenix, but for me personally I’m down because we lost and at the same time I had horrible game,” said Kevin in Filipino after the 102-95 loss Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“I’m sad but when he teases me I can’t do anything, I can’t lose my temper.”

Kevin finished with just six points, on 2-of-7 shooting, while adding two rebounds and six assists to his line.

This is the first time that Kevin faced a team that his father head coached, although the two met each other several times but Louie was still an assistant coach with Alaska back then.

Louie said he’s quite relieved that he finally won against Kevin after NLEX always managed to get the upper hand whenever the Road Warriors and the Aces faced.

“I didn’t win against him when I was with Alaska, well this is a good thing,” said Louie. “This is my first time winning against him, at least I finally got one.”
