Cayetano seeks NSAs’ commitment
Claiming the overall title in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games won’t be possible for the Philippines without the absolute commitment of the national sports associations.
Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano has sought the cooperation of the NSAs to provide vital information for the success of their athletes in the biennial Games to be hosted by the Philippines.
In a memo sent to NSA officials and their athletes, Cayetano, who sits as chair of the 30th SEA Games National Organizing Committee, inquired about the medal history of their sport when the country last hosted the Games in 2005 and from 2010-2017.
Cayetano has specifically asked for the medal output and performances of Filipino athletes in the SEA Games, Asian Games, the Olympics through the years and all other international competitions in between.
“This is the best time to think more of ‘we’ rather than ‘I.’ We look forward to building stronger and more active relations with the NSAs as we move closer to the 2019 SEA Games,” said Cayetano. “Through this event, we can bring pride and glory to Philippine sports.”
