Slaughter’s hot start earns him player of the week nod

Picking up where he left off in the 2017 Governors’ Cup, Greg Slaughter has been stellar in Barangay Ginebra’s first two games of the season.

Slaughter led the Gin Kings to a 2-0 start after posting 24 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in an 89-78 win over the Magnolia Hotshots on Christmas Day before dominating on both ends anew on Sunday with 18 points, nine rebounds and five blocks against the GlobalPort Batang Pier.

The 7-foot center, who is averaging 21 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game, couldn’t be stopped on his way to his PBA Player of the Week citation.

Slaughter edged his teammate LA Tenorio, TNT’s Jayson Castro, Troy Rosario and Mo Tautuaa, Phoenix’s Matthew Wright, Jason Perkins and Doug Kramer, San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot and Blackwater’s Mac Belo and Mike DiGregorio for the recognition.
