San Beda managed to take things to another level in its hard-fought win over University of Perpetual Help thanks to a more cohesive performance.

Unlike in its opening game against Jose Rizal U in NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament, the Lady Red Spikers fended off the Lady Altas, 28-26, 25-18, 29-27, by not relying on just one player, said skipper Cesca Racraquin.

“We played on a different level today, what we did as a team we didn’t rely on just one,” said Racraquin Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre. “We played as a whole today, instead of being individualistic.”

Although Nieza Viray took the bulk of the scoring load for San Beda with 20, other members of the team had solid contributions to push them to a 2-0 start.

Racraquin finished with 13 points while Pham Garcia and Sattriani Espiritu had eight and six points, respectively.

She said they had to be more aggressive against the Lady Altas instead of playing with the same pace in its five setter win over  Lady Heavy Bombers, 23-25, 25-19, 13-25, 25-19, 15-9.

“I told my teammates ‘guys we have to be more aggressive in whatever we will do today, be it on offense or defense,’” said Racraquin. “We have to fight because this is our pride here.”
