PBA stars Beau Belga and Rodney Brondial made surprise visits to three barangays around Metro Manila as part of the league’s new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Belga, Brondial and PBA legend Benjie Paras, who volunteered for the event, made rounds in basketball courts at Barangay Marilag, Project 4, in Quezon City and Barangays Jesus dela Peña and Tañong in Marikina with the help of league officials and staff led by Officer-In-Charge Willie Marcial.
Under Marcial’s initiative, players can pay off minor fines with community work.
“It’s a great feeling making the fans, especially the kids, happy,” said Belga, who was game in taking selfies and signing autographs.
Belga, the Rain or Shine veteran, and Brondial, the Magnolia big man, were fined by the Commissioner’s Office for their various infractions before the holiday break.
Marcial said the PBA visits, dubbed “PBA Homecourt,” will be held every other Thursday or on Saturdays when there is no scheduled out of town game and it will all be unannounced.
“It’s better when you surprise the fans,” Marcial said.
