Galedo nabs PH team slot

When it comes to sheer strength and endurance over long distances, nobody can overtake Mark John Lexer Galedo of 7Eleven Cliqq Road Bike Philippines.

The three-time local Tour champion showed everybody that he was still the man to beat in individual time trial races during the PRU Ride Philippine National Cycling Championships.

Proving his worth yet again, the 32-year-old all-rounder remained humble after clocking 43 minutes and 6.876 seconds over a demanding 31-kilometer course for the men’s ITT gold.

“I slept well the night before and gave everything I had,’’ said Galedo, who captured the individual crown of the 2009 Tour of Luzon, 2012 Ronda Pilipinas and 2014 Le Tour de Filipinas.

Second-generation rider George Oconer and Rustom Lim, also of 7Eleven Cliqq, placed 2-3 to also earn spots on the national team with Galedo, the 2013 Southeast Asian Games men’s ITT gold medalist.

7Eleven Cliqq RBP team director Ric Rodriguez said their objective was to send a Filipino rider to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
