San Beda toughed out a 25-22, 24-26, 27-25, 25-19 win over College of St. Benilde to stay unbeaten in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Cesca Racraquin capped off a dominant showing with an emphatic hit that clinched the Lionesses’ third victory.

“Every game is important especially since this is just a single-round eliminations. All the teams are competitive so we have to be ready all the time,” said San Beda coach Nemesio Gavino in Filipino.

Racraquin finished with 17 points that went with 15 digs.

The duel was a rematch between last season’s semifinalists. San Beda exacted revenge after losing in straight sets to St. Benilde last year in the stepladder semis.

St. Benilde, which suffered its first loss after a 2-0 start, took an 18-17 edge in the fourth set but couldn’t follow through after committing too many errors.

The Lady Blazers had four players in double-figures led by Rachel Austero and Ranya Musa, who scored 13 apiece. Klarisa Abriam and Diane Ventura added 11 points each.

Rebecca Cuevas also shone for San Beda, which is two wins away from matching the school’s best ever start in the tournament, with 44 excellent sets.
