Green Water Meadows, Ultra Flite golfers up

BAGUIO CITY—The younger Pucketts struck early as Green Water Meadows I registered 97 points Monday to pace Am B at the start of the regular 62nd Fil-Am Invitational golf tournament at the Baguio Country Club

Gary Puckett led the charge with 27 points while brothers Larry and Jack had 23 and 22, respectively, behind the 25 of Rey Palaganas as Green Water Meadows took a slim two-point lead over Baguio Ventures II and five over Guam Kool Swingers.

Last week, the eldest and Baguio-based Fred Puckett led Camp John Hay to the Fil Championship title of the seniors side and took the individual crown.

At CJH, Butch Bakunawa carded a five-over 74 for 31 points to lead Ultra Flite GC I to 104 and a seven-point lead in Fil B.

Roger Crespo added 26 for Ultra Flite, Dennis Nicomedes had 25 and Rey Talatala contributed 22 in the five-to-play, four-to-count tournament backed by Toyota, Pacsports, Illy, Empire and Wilson.

Arnold Duay had 27 points as Margot Marikina Golfers placed second with 97 while Mamala Bay, getting 28 from Chris Howard, held third with 93 in the event backed by Fashion Rack, Air 21, Rizgolf, Supreme Bike, GPS Tracker, Golforce, San Miguel, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corporation, Beaufort and Bayan Business.

A Toyota Vios is at stake for an ace at the No. 10 and No. 18 holes of the BCC and CJH golf courses.

The premiere Fil Championship teams debut on Wednesday with Forest Hills eyeing a second straight title against seven-time winner Manila Southwoods and one-time champion Mizuno.
