University of Perpetual Help kicked start the second half of its elimination round schedule with a resounding victory over Jose Rizal University, 25-21, 25-22, 14-25, 25-21, in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Altas stretched their winning streak to three games and improved to a 4-1 record and stay just half a game behind undefeated leaders Arellano University and San Beda, which have 4-0 cards.

Maria Clemente and Cindy Imbo powered Perpetual with 19 and 18 points, respectively, and that production was exactly what head coach Macky Cariño wanted to see from his team.

“We are aiming for the semifinals so we have to be consistent right now,” said Carinño. “We had a good defensive performance today, and so was our offense.”

The Lady Altas outscored the Lady Bombers, 50-41, in spikes and had a distinct advantage in service aces at 12-2.

Dolly Grace Verzosa had 21 points to lead the 2-3 Lady Bombers while skipper Shola Alvarez added 15.
