Xiong Jing Nan made history on Saturday when she became ONE Championship’s first women’s strawweight champion after stopping Tiffany Teo at Jakarta Convention Center in Indonesia
Relying on her pinpoint accuracy, Xiong (11-1) repeatedly tagged Teo (7-1) with overhand rights and left hooks that the Singaporean struggled to counter.
Xiong’s relentless striking prompted referee Olivier Coste to stop the fight 2:17 into the fourth round.
“I am happy to represent China and I take a lot of pride in that, I feel great and overwhelmed,” said Xiong. “I feel great and overwhelmed and this is a message to all the women across the world, you can achieve anything. This win is dedicated to my grandmother and grandfather who passed away recently.”
In the co-main event, Indonesian flyweight Stefer Rahardian (7-0) drew energy from the hometown crowd as he dominated Pakistani fighter Muhammad Imran (5-2).
Rahardian repeatedly took the fight to the ground where he rained down on Imran with punches and continuous submission attempts en route to a decision victory.
In a matchup between former World champions, former lightweight titlist Shinya Aoki submitted former featherweight king Marat Gafurov with a rear-naked choke in the card’s Grappling Super-Match.
Russian bantamweight Yusup Saadulaev spoiled Japanese veteran Masakazu Imanari’s return to ONE after scoring a unanimous decision win in a technical showcase.
Saadulaev (17-4) controlled the fight from the ground where he negated much of Imanari’s (36-17), who last fought in the promotion in 2012, offense.
Victorio Senduk (3-0) made a triumphant return to ONE Championship after almost six years and taking a TKO victory over fellow Indonesian Yohan Mulia (8-7) 57 seconds into the second round.
