Altas, new coach kick off D-L bid

05:00 AM January 22, 2018

Perpetual Help embarks on a new chapter with coach Frankie Lim as it opens its 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup bid on Monday at Pasig City Sports Center.

Inheriting a roster that failed to make an impact in the past collegiate season, the multititled Lim admitted the Altas are cramming.

“I was appointed as coach just last week and I’ll have to make do with the team that I saw when I got here,” said Lim, who steered San Beda College, his alma mater, to four NCAA titles.

It will be the same case for Go for Gold as coach Charles Tiu is hoping that key additions J-Jay Alejandro, Kent Salado, Matt Salem, and ex-pro Jerwin Gaco have fully integrated with the St. Benilde core.

The Scratchers battle Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare in the first game at 2 p.m.

“We’re a very young team and they are a team that’s been together for a while,” said Tiu. “It’s going to be a tough challenge for us.”
