Player of the Week: Pogoy flourishing off the bench for TNT

Roger Pogoy has been a major spark off the bench for TNT.

Pogoy is flourishing as the Katroa’s sixth man and his impact couldn’t be any bigger than what he had done the past week.

The second-year swingman played a key role in TNT’s 2-0 record against Blackwater and Meralco last week.

And his play earned him a PBA Press Corps Player of the Week citation after averaging 19.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals.

The former Far Eastern University star had an efficient night, scoring 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field while also collecting eight rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead the KaTropa to a 92-83 win over the Elite on Wednesday.

He followed up his all-around effort with 15 points, four rebounds and two steals in a 99-81 drubbing of the Bolts.

Pogoy’s production helped TNT improve its card to 3-2 for a share of third place with Alaska.

Other players considered for the weekly recognition were TNT’s Troy Rosario, Jayson Castro and RR Garcia, KIA’s Rashawn McCarthy and Glen Khobuntin, Magnolia’s Rafi Reavis, Alaska forward Vic Manuel and Sonny Thoss, San Miguel’s June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos as well as GlobalPort’s Sean Anthony.
