San Beda kept its record perfect after scoring a tight 17-25, 25-15, 25-16, 27-29, 15-12 win over Letran Monday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Facing their toughest challenge to date, the Lady Red Spikers once again banked on Cesca Racraquin, who fired 17 points, 14 off kills to lift her side to a 5-0 record.

Maria Nieza Viray uncorked 14 markers, Sattriani Espiritu had 12 hits, and Trisha Paras got 11 for San Beda.

It was a valiant effort from the Lady Knights (2-3) with Glayssa Faith Torres firing 18 in the defeat.

In the first game, St. Benilde leaned on the duo of Rachelle Anne Austero and Ranya Musa late to squeak past Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-17, 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-7.

Austero pumped in 17 kills while Musa did her part with 15, none bigger than her killer spikes that allowed the Lady Blazers to snap their two-game losing skid.

St. Benilde coach Arnold Laniog heaved a huge sigh of relief after his squad won despite committing 48 errors.

“We really need to lessen our mistakes if we want to have a chance in this tournament,” said Laniog.

The Lady Generals suffered their fifth straight loss to remain at the cellar with a 0-5 slate.
