Zark’s Burger-Lyceum brought back memories of its dominant ways in the NCAA as it ran its foe to the ground Tuesday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.

Playing at a frenetic pace, the Jawbreakers ran roughshod over Batangas-EAC to deliver the 37-point beatdown, 112-75.

Just like in the NCAA, in the middle of it all was CJ Perez, who led with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals in the win.

Coach Topex Robinson believes that Zark’s Burger-Lyceum has learned from its mistakes after falling to Marinerong Pilipino, 94-92m back in opening day.

“We have adjusted on everything, the calls and the teams we’re playing against,” the youthful mentor said.

Perez, 23, however, says the Jawbreakers are staying true to their tried and tested system which allowed them to easily dispatch the Generals.

“We were able to control the pace because that’s always been our game,” he said in Filipino. “We thrive in fast-paced games and that’s where we execute our system.”

As promising as this breakthrough win is, Perez knows that it’s important for Zark’s Burger-Lyceum to keep the energy going and have no letups as it goes deeper in the ongoing conference.

“We bank on our energy so that we can play our game and be at our best. We just have to sustain this in the coming games,” he said.

Robinson agreed, noting that his job as a coach is to continually remind his wards to stick to the Jawbreakers’ style of play.

“We’re here to remind them to keep on doing what we’ve been doing. We’re just replenishing what we’re used to do so that we can play well in our next games,” he said.

Zark’s Burger-Lyceum seeks back-to-back wins when it faces AMA Online Education on Thursday.
