Filipino Romero Duno bolstered his stock after making quick work of Yardley Armenta Cruz of Mexico on Sunday (Manila time) at the Forum in Los Angeles.
The General Santos native knocked out Cruz at the 1:01 mark of the first round in their lightweight bout.
Duno wasted no time in pummeling his foe, unloading a bevy of combinations that Cruz had no answer to.
“That was our plan, to finish the match in three to four rounds,” he told ABS-CBN Sports in Filipino.
“When I stepped into the ring, I got excited and I didn’t imagine that it would end that fast.”
The win improved Duno’s record to 16-1, with 14 knockouts. He has now won his last seven fights.
