“I’m just thankful to the coaches and the management for the confidence they’re giving me. I struggled in the beginning, but their trust never waned,” Grey said.

Grey continued to repay that faith on Sunday as he fired a career-high 24 points, on top of five rebounds and two assists in the team’s 107-88 decimation of the Bolts.

With his good games coming at the expense of Meralco, the team that drafted him seventh in the 2016 PBA Rookie Draft, a few couldn’t help but wonder if the former St. Benilde standout is spurred by revenge against his old crew.

With Romeo yet to suit up for GlobalPort in the foreseeable future due to his knee contusion injury, Grey said that he’s just willing to stay the course and give it his all whenever his number gets called.

“Every time I play, I always give my 100-percent to win for the team. That’s all. Sometimes you’re lucky, sometimes you’re not. But I always try to give everything for the team,” he said.
