Zark’s Burger-Lyceum coach Topex Robinson knew that something was up with twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino in the game against Akari-Adamson on Tuesday.

With the twins facing their old school, the youthful mentor wasn’t surprised with how motivated the Jaycee and Javee were in their clash in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.

“They really are driven. Remember that they came from Adamson. Before they found their way to Lyceum, they used to play for Adamson. So they really are motivated to play, and they really are enjoying themselves,” said Robinson.

Jaycee poured six of his 19 points in the last five minutes, while also grabbing two boards and two steals in the Jawbreakers’ 83-76 victory over the Falcons, while Jayvee did a stupendous defensive job late and wound up with five markers, four steals, three dimes, and a board.

But 20-year-old Jaycee clarified he wasn’t motivated to get one over Adamson, saying he still enjoys a healthy friendship with his former teammates like Papi Sarr, Sean Manganti, and Jonathan Espeleta.

“Jayvee and I didn’t want to prove anything. We were the ones who decided to leave. There’s no bad blood with us. We’re close with all of our former teammates there,” the humble guard said in Filipino.

Marcelino said that his lone goal for the game was to play at his best as always to help Zark’s-Lyceum rack its third straight win, rising up to 3-1 in the standings.

The stellar game coming at the expense of the Falcons, he said, was just a by-product.

“I didn’t expect that I’ll play this well and it happened against Adamson. We’re just lucky,” he said. “Maybe after we lost our first game, we all wanted to work hard in our practice, do extra work so that our games will no longer end up in losses.”
