With Alvarez, Versoza leading the charge, JRU coach confident of Final 4 chances

Coach Mia Tioseco is confident about Jose Rizal University’s chances of making the Final Four in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament.

After all, if the playoffs started today, the Lady Bombers would be in it.

“For as long as the players will continue to fight then, I think we have a very good chance of making it,” said Tioseco.

And any team that has a go-to guy capable of taking over the way Shola Alvarez does for the Lady Bombers is likely to go far as well.

Alvarez, an MVP favorite if she propels JRU into the Final Four, set a season-high with 30 points to carry her team in a crucial win over Letran on Wednesday.

But the Lady Bombers aren’t just a one-woman crew with Dolly Versoza proving to be a lethal second option.

Versoza scored 17 points, including timely hits to knock the Lady Knights out of the Final Four race.

“She’s very athletic and her attitude is also great,” said Tioseco of Versoza.

JRU is currently tied with San Sebastian in fourth. The Lady Bombers face also-ran Lyceum in their final game of the elimination round while the Lady Stags clash with defending champion Arellano University.
