Orcollo raring to get back at Taiwanese

MANILA, Philippines—A shot at redemption.

That’s the target of world No. 1 Dennis Orcollo when he takes on Chinese Taipei’s Yang Ching-shun
tomorrow in their Philippine Bigtime Billiards Face Off series at the Pagcor Airport Casino in Parañaque.

Orcollo, who lost the first match of the face-off series to Ralf Souquet a few weeks ago, also hopes to exact revenge on Yang, who beat him in the race-to-60 marathon match at the Gateway Mall in 2007.

In their rematch two years ago, Orcollo again lost to the former Asian Games champion, 50-45, at Club Capo Exclusive in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

“I’m happy that Yang once again accepted by challenge for a rematch as I really want to avenge my loss to him,” said Orcollo, who was just recently named World Pool and Billiards Association Player of the Year for 2011. “I will do my best and I’m confident of winning this time.”

A Bugsy Promotions mainstay, Orcollo is the reigning International Predator 10-Ball champion and the 2011 Southeast Asian Games 8-ball gold medalist.

As expected, Orcollo is the odds-on pick on e-games and inside the casino with a $1 bet on him winning $.55. Yang wins $2.15 for every $1 placed on him.

The race-to-9, 10-ball due is jointly organized by the Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp. and will be aired at 9 p.m. over Solar Sports, Sky Channel 70 and Destiny Channel 34. Winner of the match will get $5,000, while the loser pockets $2,500.
