Go for Gold coach Charles Tiu allayed fears over Jerwin Gaco’s injury, saying that the 37-year-old bruiser is already up and about after going down late in the fourth quarter.
“It’s nothing serious,” said Tiu fter the Scratchers fell to Akari-Adamson, 92-98, Tuesday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.
Gaco hit the deck with 1:35 remaining in the game after he collided with Falcons big man Papi Sarr.
The veteran forward took time to get up as he held his right thigh as he made his way back to the bench.
Gaco’s injury complicated Go for Gold’s belated rally, where it cut what was once a 25-point deficit to as low as six, 86-80, as the ex-pro’s presence was badly missed in the clutch with Clement Leutcheu already fouling out with 4:11 left to play.
Tiu, though, expects Gaco to be ready for the Scratchers’ next game against Perpetual next Tuesday.
“He should be back next game. Nothing serious,” he said.
Gaco has been averaging 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in his stint in his three games for Go for Gold.
