Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas continued its dominance in the track after defending its respective titles in the men’s and women’s division in the UAAP Season 80 athletics tournament Sunday at Philsports track oval.
The Tamaraws won their eighth straight men’s division title while UST’s Lady Tracksters ruled the women’s division for the fourth straight year.
Clinton Bautista—who won six gold medals, four silvers and the MVP—ended his collegiate career taking ownership of the league’s record for the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.31 seconds.
The MVP also took gold in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints. He ran the century dash with a personal-best 10.81 seconds.
Bautista’s 21.87-second time in the 200-meter sprint was .05 seconds shy of tying the league record.
The Lady Tracksters won their eighth overall title and Louielyn Pamatian earned her second straight MVP for UST.
Pamatian, a middle-distance specialist, clocked in at 58.01 seconds in the 400-meter dash and 2:19.06 in the 800-meter run to win the gold medal in the two events.
De La Salle’s Francis Obiena, who won the gold in the pole vault event, was the top rookie in the men’s division and University of the Philippines’ Sunshine Acaso was the best freshman in the women’s division.
University of the East swept the high school titles with the boys taking their fifth championship and the girls completing the three-peat.
