Que seeks to check TCC slump

Struggling abroad early in the season, Angelo Que hopes to bounce back in The Country Club Invitational blasting off Wednesday at the TCC layout in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Que, the 2008 Philippine Open champion, missed the cut in Singapore, Myanmar and Malaysia in the last four weeks but the three-time Asian Tour leg winner remains confident going into the P5-million event which he has ruled thrice in its 13-year staging.

Just one shot behind fellow three-time winner Juvic Pagunsan heading to the final round last year, Que bombed out with an 81 and wound up fourth.

Miguel Tabuena rallied from five down to edge Pagunsan by one for the crown with a 72, posting a 13-over 301 aggregate at the exacting Tom Weiskopf-designed layout.

Pagunsan won’t be around to vie for a record fourth title while ex-winners Tony Lascuña (2004) and Frankie Minoza (2013) will try to nail another win.
