After 14 years, pioneering steel manufacturing conglomerate Philsteel returns to the PBA as a major sponsor of Asia’s first play-for-pay league.
Philsteel, the company behind renowned and trusted roofing brands such as
Galvalume 55, Colorbond and building product Galvabond, recently forged a season-long partnership with the PBA under the helm of newly-minted commissioner Willie Marcial.
“The PBA welcomes back a solid corporate partner in Philsteel,” says
commissioner Marcial during the recent contract signing held at the Philsteel Tower in Makati.
Abeto Uy, Philsteel’s Chairman and CEO, said the company is happy to be part
of the PBA family again.
“It is a sweet comeback for Philsteel. Like the PBA, we are homegrown yet world class,” Uy said.
“Competition is fierce in the PBA as in business, only those
with drive, quality and the passion to do better everyday stands out, same qualities that shape our brands and Philsteel,” Uy added.
Philsteel and PBA’s partnership go a long way back. The company first
sponsored the league in 2004.
“Our partnership with the PBA is steel-strong. We share the same market reach and audience profile,” said Paul Oraa, Philsteel’s Marketing Director.
The league’s three Best Player of the Conference awards for this season will
be handed out under Philsteel’s name.
“Philsteel and PBA are both trailblazing, trusted and excellence driven, it is a natural partnership forged by these common ideals,” said Ed Navarrete, the company’s head of Communications, Public Relations and Government Engagement.
