PBA greenlights Jericho Cruz trade to TNT

Desperate to make a late run to the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals, TNT has secured Jericho Cruz from Rain or Shine after the Office of the Commissioner approved the trade on Thursday.

The league, though, made slight tweaks to the reported deal between the KaTropa and the Elasto Painters which centered on the wantaway guard.

In exchange, Rain or Shine will receive Sidney Onwubere, Kris Rosales, and TNT’s 2018 first round pick in the transaction.

Cruz has previously asked for a trade from the Elasto Painters’ brass, ending what four-year tenure with the team which drafted him ninth in the 2014 PBA Draft.

He has struggled coming back from a foot injury this season, averaging 2.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in the three games he played for Rain or Shine this 2018 PBA Philippine Cup.

On the other hand, the Fil-Nigerian Onwubere may finally get his chance in his new team after playing limited minutes for TNT and norming 1.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in his first conference as a pro.
