Seeking to improve its standing in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup, AMA Online Education signed up veteran big man Jay-R Taganas and hardworking forward Michael Cañete.
The two, together with former Centro Escolar University big man Joseph Celso, will all be making their season debuts for the Titans against Marinerong Pilipino on Monday.
Returning to AMA this conference, the 41-year-old Taganas is hoping to recapture his thunder after emerging as a solid double-double machine in the developmental ranks and setting the league record for most rebounds at 29 back in 2015.
He last suited up for Tanduay in the 2017 Foundation Cup and is currently playing for Bulacan Kuyas in the MPBL.
Cañete, meanwhile, has been recalled to the team after missing its last two games. He averaged 21.0 points, 9.0 rebounds in the Titans’ first two games this conference.
Their arrival is just the latest in coach Mark Herrera’s big roster moves after he signed up collegiate studs Robbie Manalang, Arvin Tolentino, and Kyles Lao this past week.
AMA is currently among the bottom teams this conference with a 1-3 card.
