Shin targets Solaire PH Open crown at TCC

In-form Micah Shin tests his mettle against a crack international field when the Solaire Philippine Open blasts off Feb. 28 at The Country Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The Korean-American bested local ace Miguel Tabuena in the just-concluded The Country Club Invitational, but admits competition will be tougher in the country’s premiere tournament organized by the National Golf Association of the Philippines and Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc.

For one, at stake will be the recognition as Centennial champion of Asia’s first National Open and the organizing National Golf Association of the Philippines and Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. and the sponsoring Solaire Resort and Casino are guaranteeing a blockbuster event.

“It’s Asia’s oldest National Open and this one is special because it’s the 100th tournament,” said Thomas Arasi, president/CEO of Solaire Resort and Casino. “That’s what Solaire is all about—creating meaningful events and milestones,” added Arasi of the event which offers a total pot of $600,000, making it the richest Open in history.
