GA tackles crucial POC issues
A crucial meeting may just give a glimpse of how the court-ordered Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) elections slated Feb. 23 will turn out.
Boxing chief Ricky Vargas leads the national sports association heads that will gather in a general assembly—which is expected to determine the direction of the POC leadership crisis—on Monday at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
Vargas is set to challenge incumbent POC president Peping Cojuangco.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA) has filed a petition to the POC following a recent election that ousted Richard Fernandez and installed former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson as president.
PNSA election committee chair Eleuterio Canivel said POC deputy secretary general Simeon Garcia’s participation in an “illegal election that has caused disorder and confusion” in the association should be elevated to the ethics committee. —J. PAYO
