Pasaol: UE yet to meet new coach

As much as Alvin Pasaol is sharpening his game in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup, the super scorer insisted on how important it is for University of the East to formally name its new head coach.

“The team is preparing and training hard, but we need to have a coach who will guide us because we’re playing in so many preseason leagues,” Pasaol said.

Pasaol, who made it to the Mythical Five this past UAAP Season 80, is making headway in his game with this stint in the developmental league, averaging 6.3 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists so far for the Skippers.

But the same couldn’t be said for the rest of the Red Warriors, who have yet to find a new father figure following the departure of Derrick Pumaren.

Reports over the past week have named current NU Bullpups head tactician Goldwin Monteverde as the likely successor to the post.

“The management said that we’ll meet the new coach by Monday. But I think the team wasn’t able to meet anyone earlier. Though, we’re hearing news from the management, we still don’t know if it’s really coach Goldwin,” he shared.

Regardless of the coaching situation, Pasaol said UE is just doing whatever it can to be in peak form.

“Our mindset is preparing for the season because we know that whoever the coach is, the goal for us is to make it to the Final Four,” he said.
