Even big boys cry.

Blackwater center Poy Erram turned emotional after committing a turnover midway through the third quarter during a crucial game against Phoenix Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-6 Erram was reduced to tears on the bench and he said the scene was a testament to his love for the game.

“My passion for the game is really high and to not be able to perform well and us not making the right decisions is just disappointing,” Erram said. “I’m disappointed with the team and more disappointed with myself because I’m not able to perform.”

But Erram didn’t let his emotions get the better of him for the remainder of the game and he couldn’t have done it without his teammates and coaches.

“My teammates and coaches didn’t give up on me. They helped me get my composure back and I was able to get my confidence back to perform better.”

Erram more than made up for that miscue as he kept the Elite’s playoff bid going after an 83-78 win.

The 28-year-old Erram continued to make his case as one of the best big men in the league with another double-double, finishing with 12 points and 19 rebounds on top of five blocks.

The former Ateneo star joined elite company, tying reigning four-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo with the most double-doubles this season with seven.

“I’m happy that I’m able to be side-by-side with the four-time MVP even if it’s just in the stats department but I owe this to my teammates and coaches’ trust in me.”
