Che’Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian used a strong start to shock Zark’s Burger-Lyceum, 97-88, Tuesday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Samboy de Leon ignited the 16-0 start which extended to a 31-10 lead in the first quarter en route to the wire-to-wire victory, the Reveller’s third straight, for a 5-3 record.
“Hopefully, this will be the sign that we’re already jelling as a team and make it to the semifinals,” said coach Stevenson Tiu.
Alfred Batino came off the bench and churned out 24 points and 13 rebounds, while De Leon shot 8-of-15 from the field to finish with 21 markers and nine boards.
Michael Calisaan also rung his 23rd birthday with 13 points and eight rebounds in the conquest, but exited the game early in the third quarter due to an elbow injury.
Zark’s-Lyceum still tried to mount a late rally, getting to within seven, 93-86, with 24.6 seconds remaining, but Ryan Costelo was cool from the charity stripe to deny the uprising.
Marcelino topped the skidding Jawbreakers (4-3) with 15 points, seven rebounds, and four steals off the bench, while Spencer Pretta shot 4-of-10 from downtown to wound up with 14.
