Viray twins win San Beda’s 1st NCAA beach volley title via sweep
San Beda walked away from the sand courts looking as immaculate as the summer sun after fending off Emilio Aguinaldo College, 21-17, 21-10, to complete a sweep of the NCAA Season 93 women’s beach volleyball tournament Saturday at Boardwalk in Subic.
Twins Ella and Nieza Viray, who are two-time silver finishers in the beach volleyball circuit, gave San Beda its first title in the tournament after pulling off an 11-0 season sweep.
“We’re so ecstatic because after two years of losing in the finals, we finally won it,” said the MVP Ella in Filipino.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the men’s division, Palo Lim and Joshua Mina of EAC also completed a perfect 11-0 sweep after breaking down University of Perpetual Help’s duo of Joebert Almodiel and Rey Taneo, 17-21, 21-17, 15-13.
Lim and MVP Mina’s win also marked the Generals’ first title in the beach volleyball tournament.
