Siklab Atleta boosts PH drive for first Olympic gold
For Philippine Olympic Committee chair Abraham Tolentino, Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation, Inc. can efficiently address the demands for Filipino athletes to reach their Olympic dreams.
“The NSAs (national sports associations) are having a difficult time to come up with the funding to train their athletes, especially those who have the potential to represent our country in the Olympics,” said Tolentino.
“With the advocacy of Siklab and the help of its private partners, this is indeed a big help for the NSAs,” added the country’s cycling chief and Cavite representative.
Article continues after this advertisementSiklab Foundation became the first organization outside of the government to formalize its backing on Saturday for the country’s ultimate objective of capturing a first Olympic gold medal.
“Siklab Atleta Pilipinas Sports Foundation will fuel the Philippine’s best athletes to make the country’s dream of bagging an Olympic gold a reality,” said Phoenix Petroleum president and CEO Dennis Uy, Presidential Adviser for Sports and the brains behind the foundation.
Heading the list of athletes expected to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo are Rio Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, windsurfing champion Geylord Coveta, triathlete Kim Mangrobang and tracksters Eric Cray and Trenton Beram.
