Lady Warriors blank rivals

University of the East advanced to the UAAP Season 80 softball semifinals in style, shutting out National University, 7-0, on Saturday at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

The Lady Warriors swept their season series with the Lady Bulldogs and in turn, got the third seed after the two squads finished the elimination round with similar 7-5 records.

UE will take on second-ranked University of Santo Tomas, which sent also-ran University of the Philippines out of the tournament with a 6-2 win on Thursday.

Meanwhile, No. 4 NU will take on defending champion Adamson, which wrapped up the eliminations with a 10-0 thumping of La Salle. —RANDOLPH B. LEONGSON, INQUIRER.NET
