Former Arellano University star Orly Daroya nailed a triple at the buzzer as Imus GLC Truck and Equipment rallied past Navotas Big J Sports, 70-67, Saturday night, while Bulacan Ligo Sardines dealt Batangas City Tanduay its first defeat of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta Rajah Cup at Imus Sports Complex.
The Bandera fought back from 14 points down in the final period with Daroya hitting their last 12 points, including the buzzer-beating trey that sent Bandera fans into a frenzy.
Daroya pumped in a game-high 29 points for the Bandera, who improved their record to 2-5 after scoring their second straight victory.
Earlier, the Kuyas sustained their impressive run by stunning the Athletics, 80-72, for their fourth straight victory.
PBA legend Marlou Aquino played a key role on both ends of the floor for the Kuyas.
“He really makes an effort to practice before games that’s how determined he is to impact games for us,” said Bulacan coach Chris Baluyot.
But the night belonged to Daroya and the resurgent Bandera.
With only 1.6 seconds left in the clock, Imus coach Jerry Codiñera designed a play for Daroya who got the ball from Mikee Cabahug before hitting the game winning three.
