Centennial III sweeps Subic regatta
SUBIC BAY—The Philippines’ Standard Insurance Centennial III swept all six races of the Subic Bay Cup Regatta (SBCR) and topped the inaugural Subic Bay Verde Island Passage Race (SBVIPR) but couldn’t prevent Mandrake III of Hong Kong from bagging the IRC Racing Class I title.
Skippered by Fred Kinmonth and Nick Burns, Hong Kong’s GTS 43 sailboat snatched victory from three-time Subic to Boracay race champion Centennial III by compiling more points in the seven races combined.
Mandrake III edged Centennial III of Judes Echauz for the championship by 16 minutes and 18 seconds in the SBVIPR and one point in the SBCR.

In the FarEast 28R class, the Philippine Sailing Association team skippered by Emerson Villena controlled the first six races and cruised to victory.
“We saw the potential of our sailors in the FarEast 28R during the Regatta held China last year,” said Echauz, president of the Philippine Sailing Association.
