Balanced attack helps Sta. Lucia in rout of Cignal

For Sta. Lucia, sharing the wealth was the key in its victory over Cignal in the Philippine Super Liga.

The Lady Realtors reached 2-2 in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix after beating down the HD Spikers, 32-30, 25-22, 25-21, and head coach George Pascua credited his team’s unselfishness in the victory.

“My team had the desire to execute the game plan and they knew that it would need more than two people to beat the other team,” said Pascua in Filipino Thursday at Filoil Fying V Centre.

“We have to distribute the ball to throw off our opponents.”

Sta. Lucia had five players score its last seven points as the Realtors came back from 18-15 down.

MJ Phillips first tied it at 19-19 then Mary Grace Berte gave Sta. Lucia with a 21-19 after scoring on a block.

Marisa Field then got credited for the block on Sonya Milanovic for the Realtors’ 22-20 lead.

Bohdana Anisova, who had 23 points to lead Sta. Lucia, finished off the affair for the Realtors with two straight kills.

Phillips finished with 16 points as the second fiddle to Anisova while Field added eight points.

Berte and Micmic Laborte had four points apiece to pitch in to the offense.

“We can’t rely on just one hitter so our opponents can read on us defense,” said Pascua.
