Dave Ildefonso leaves Ateneo, commits to NU

Dave Ildefonso joins his father Danny at National U.

Dave Ildefonso is set for a reunion with his father as he commits to National University.

The 17-year-old has decided to follow the footsteps of the legendary Danny Ildefonso and join the Bulldogs this upcoming UAAP Season 81.

Ildefonso averaged 13.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals this past UAAP Season 80 juniors basketball tournament where he was one of the key cogs in leading the Ateneo Blue Eaglets to the championship.

On a social media post that announced his decision, the younger Ildefonso wrote: ” As I enter a new chapter in my life I will always carry with me the solid foundation that Ateneo has given. That foundation will always be a big part not just of who I am but who I will become as an athlete and more importantly as a person.

“Life gives us very few chances to make a difference, to inspire, and to ask not just what a school can do for you but what you can do for a school. When the opportunity comes, grab it. Before I move on to the next chapter of my life, one last time: #OBF”

The 6-foot-4 winger’s decision to take his talents to Jhocson will allow him to be mentored by his father, who serves as an assistant to coach Jamike Jarin, while also partnering him up once again with older brother Shaun.

Ildefonso’s arrival is a much needed boost for NU which is reeling from the graduations of top guns J-Jay Alejandro and Matt Salem.

Jarin is banking on the potential of his young Bulldogs, which will lean on Issa Gaye, JP Cauilan, Matthew Aquino, and John Lloyd Clemente, to make a splash in the upcoming collegiate wars later this year.
