Carlo Biado continued to wield a hot cue stick and bested fellow Filipino Jundel Mazon, 13-11, to rule the 10-Ball Jogja Open International Billiard Tournament 2018 in Indonesia on Sunday.
Showing the form that made him the 2017 world 9-ball champion, the 34-year-old Biado pocketed the top purse of $12,000 (about P625,000).
The pride of La Union trounced Indonesian Ricky Yang, 11-5, in the semifinals to arrange the showdown with Mazon, who toppled compatriot Husley Jusayan, 11-9.
The Filipinos’ 1-2-3 finish boosted the nation’s morale, according to former billiards pro and Asian snooker champion Marlon Manalo, a close confidante of Biado.
“They gave us something to cheer for,” said Manalo. —ROY LUARCA
