Adamson University snapped an eight-year dry spell after stunning De La Salle, 13-6, in the title-clinching Game 2 of the UAAP Season 80 baseball finals Friday at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The win marked the Soaring Falcons’ 11th title, and the first since the 2009-2010 academic year, putting them at a tie with University of the Philippines for third-most titles in the league behind University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University that have 24 and 13 championships, respectively.

But before Adamson cruised to the Game 2 victory, however, the Falcons first had to erase La Salle’s 5-0 lead in the third inning.

The Falcons then went into survival mode in the bottom of the third scoring four runs to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Adamson then ramped up the ante in the next three innings, scoring six for the 13-5 lead and only allowing the Green Batters to salvage a run at the top of the eighth.

Jerome Yenson, the Falcons’ starting pitcher in Game 1, ultimately forced a swing and a miss at the top of the ninth to clinch Adamson’s championship.
