Alas leaves Game 5 with knee injury
ANTIPOLO — NLEX guard Kevin Alas injured his right knee early in Game 5 of the 2018 Philippine Cup semifinals against Magnolia on Sunday at Ynares Center here.
The shifty guard drove against Paul Lee and Mark Barroca when he sustained the injury and immediately writhed in pain on the floor 40 seconds into the all-important tussle.
Article continues after this advertisementAlas was immediately taken back to the Road Warriors’ dugout as the team’s physical therapists iced his injured knee.
“I felt my right knee lock with the floor and it buckled,” he told INQUIRER.net in a short chat during the halftime break.

Taking the necessary precautions, coach Yeng Guiao will no longer field Alas for the second half, resting the 26-year-old before he undergoes a checkup with Dr. Raul Canlas on Monday morning.
Alas is averaging 9.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in the series.
Magnolia holds a slim 37-36 lead against NLEX at the half as of posting time.
